Editorial policy

How The Maritime Gazette reports.

Accuracy and verification

The Gazette seeks to publish accurate, useful maritime reporting. We identify reliable sources, distinguish verified information from unconfirmed claims and make the status of developing events clear to readers.

Original reporting

Automated drafts are created from factual notes and attributed sources. They are independently structured in the Gazette’s editorial voice and require a publisher review before publication. The Gazette does not reproduce another publication’s wording as its own reporting.

Editorial independence

Coverage decisions are made for relevance, public interest and maritime significance. Commercial relationships, if any, should be clearly labelled and must not determine the factual substance of editorial reporting.
