Alfa Laval has introduced a skid-mounted variant of its PureBallast 3 Ultra ballast water management system, presenting a prefabricated package designed to reduce onboard footprint and speed installation.
The new product, named PureBallast 3 Ultra Skid, was unveiled as an addition to the PureBallast 3 Ultra portfolio and is described as a response to customer demand, combining the system’s established biological treatment performance with a compact, factory-built layout intended to simplify shipboard integration.
Prefabricated skid format
The skid solution brings the PureBallast 3 Ultra onto a prefabricated frame, a format intended to shorten the time required for positioning and connecting the system aboard a vessel by consolidating major components into a single module.
According to the report, the design aims to minimise the installed footprint and therefore the space taken on board, while presenting installers with a ready-made assembly that can be lifted and connected rather than built piece by piece in situ.
Portfolio expansion and customer-driven development
Alfa Laval framed the launch as an expansion of the existing PureBallast 3 Ultra offering and said the skid was developed in direct response to customer requests for a quicker and simpler installation route.
The company retained the biological treatment principals of the PureBallast 3 Ultra concept within the skid configuration, pairing that established performance with a platform engineered to reduce the logistical and engineering demands of installation.
